Snoring and insufficient pressure of sleep ventilator

Many patients with apnea and snoring will have a question after using the ventilator for a period of time. Is the pressure parameter they are using enough?

When setting the sleep ventilator, if the pressure is too high, it will lead to intolerance and failure of treatment; If the pressure value is too low, it can not improve the problem of sleep apnea and achieve the best therapeutic effect.

If the pressure of sleep ventilator is not enough, are there any specific manifestations?

Performance of insufficient pressure of sleep ventilator

1. AHI high

The main purpose of using ventilator is to solve apnea during sleep at night. AHI index can directly reflect the severity of apnea at night. AHI index of normal people should be controlled at 5 times per hour. If there is no problem with the ventilator, then the AHI index should be within the normal 5. If the AHI index is higher than 5, it is likely to be caused by insufficient pressure. If the pressure is low and the blocked upper respiratory tract cannot be opened at night, then the AHI index will be on the high side. However, it must be separated from the air leakage, and sometimes the air leakage will also cause the AHI index to be on the high side.

2. Not enough breath at night

Too little pressure will lead to high AHI index, that is, the air flow can not open the collapsed airway, and the airway collapse will cause suffocation. If the ventilator can not open the airway for a long time, then people will have a micro awakening. Some people may be able to suffocate directly from sleep. If there is such a situation, consider whether the pressure is too small.

But the single level users should be separated from the pressure too high. If the night pressure of the single level ventilator is too high, it will cause the difficulty of breathing. Some people will wake up from sleep because the breath is still still. Although both are suffocating, the reason is opposite.

3. I feel bored when I'm awake

If the initial pressure of many automatic sleep ventilator users is too low, the ventilator users will feel stuffy and lack of breath when they are awake. These situations are generally caused by too low pressure. Although the current mainstream ventilators are mainly automatic models, the initial pressure of the ventilator must be adjusted according to the actual situation of each person, Because many users do not understand the ventilator, they directly set the initial pressure to 4.0, which is certainly not enough for a fat person.

4. There was a purr

If the pressure of the ventilator is too low to fully support the upper airway, there will still be snoring sound, because the airway is not particularly unobstructed, resulting in poor air flow in and out, and poor air flow in and out will cause the surrounding soft tissue vibration and sound. So if you still snore after using the ventilator, please check your ventilator usage data to see if the ventilator pressure is too low.
